UOB and Keppel collaborate to help businesses with sustainability and digitalization 2023

Today, UOB and Keppel announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop and provide businesses in the region with a comprehensive portfolio of sustainability and digitalisation solutions to support their decarbonisation journey.

This partnership combines UOB’s sustainability and digital transformation financing solutions and tools, such as the UOB Sustainability Compass, with Keppel’s expertise in providing solutions for energy optimisation, sustainable asset enhancement solutions, connectivity, and digitalisation.

The collaboration seeks to make sustainability easier for enterprises. This is the first time that UOB has partnered with a company with Keppel’s capabilities and reach in order to extend a comprehensive suite of sustainability solutions beyond Singapore and into Southeast Asia.

The collaboration will focus on solutions across three sectors, namely energy, the constructed environment, and digital connectivity, to facilitate the implementation of smart, sustainable solutions.

EaaS stands for energy as a service.

Enterprises will achieve energy efficiency, cost savings, and a reduction in their carbon footprint by utilizing Keppel’s Energy as a Service solution, which includes electricity with Renewable Energy Credits (RECs), energy storage solutions, distributed solar photovoltaic systems and electric vehicle charging infrastructure; all digitally powered by smart operations performance management at Keppel’s Operations Nerve Centre. UOB will provide sustainable financing that is competitive for these solutions.

Environment of Construction: Sustainable Urban Renewal

Keppel and UOB will assist real estate proprietors in revitalizing their assets by implementing an array of smart sustainability solutions, spatial programming, and workplace solutions that enhance building performance and increase asset value.

Using an integrated strategy to achieve ESG objectives, these solutions will extend the useful life of these assets while meeting industry certification requirements.

Digitalisation and Networking

UOB will collaborate with M1, a subsidiary of Keppel, to aid enterprises in their digital and sustainability transformation journeys as digital business processes become increasingly prevalent. This will be accomplished by collaborating on the development of connectivity and digitalisation solutions with embedded financial and sustainability reporting solutions.

Mr. Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of UOB, stated, “This collaboration brings together two organizations that share a commitment to sustainability and digitalization. With our combined expertise in multiple sectors, we can assist in innovating and accelerating the adoption of sustainable practices in Singapore and throughout ASEAN.

This strategic partnership with Keppel will provide regional businesses with new opportunities to become more sustainable and resilient. This, we believe, will help enterprises and end-users contribute to a low-carbon and digital economy.”

Mr. Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel, stated, “Leveraging Keppel’s decades of operating and engineering expertise, Keppel is pleased to partner with UOB to offer sustainability solutions that assist businesses in addressing some of their most pressing needs in their sustainability and digitalisation journey.”

Together with UOB, we are able to provide comprehensive complete solutions that will expedite the adoption of sustainable practices. We look forward to collaborating closely with partners who share our commitment to a more sustainable future, such as UOB.”
